Holiday in Gastein

Spring, summer, autumn & winter - always the perfect holiday

Why not spend your sports, adventure and thermal spa holiday in our beloved Gastein! Majestic peaks, two thermal baths, a solar bath and a variety of sports, leisure and relaxation options await you here. Gastein wants to create your perfect holiday in the mountains.

The Gastein Valley in Salzburger Land stretches over an impressive 40 kilometers, making it the longest valley in the Hohe Tauern. Here you will find the picturesque towns of Dorfgastein, Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein as well as Sportgastein, the highest ski area in the “Ski amadé” ski area. Gastein is a true paradise for nature lovers, hiking enthusiasts, cyclists, climbers and thermal spa fans. But winter sports lovers such as skiers, snowboarders, freeriders and cross-country skiers also feel right at home here. For spa vacationers and health-conscious people, Gastein also offers healing thermal springs, fresh mountain air, the power of untouched nature, the Gastein healing tunnel with its unique radon therapy and a wide range of options for yoga enthusiasts.

The 3 main towns and the ski area in the Gastein Valley each present themselves with individual charm and unique highlights:

Dorfgastein – the place of idyll and originality

Dorfgastein, the first town at the partial entrance to the Gastein Valley, impresses with its authentic, original and family charm. Here you will experience a place on holiday that has retained its village character despite modern developments.

During your winter holiday, the Dorfgastein-Großarl bike and ski area, which is part of the renowned “Ski Amadé” world, offers you first-class, family-friendly ski slopes of all levels of difficulty. For particularly sporty winter holidaymakers, the ski region also offers secured ski tours and illuminated cross-country ski trails.

During your summer vacation, the Fulseck summit cable car tempts you to take your bike up with you. This means you can easily start your mountain bike tour from the summit. The Fulseck also impresses with its mirror lake and the barefoot path, which creates a very special, beautiful and conscious mountain experience. In order to discover the untouched nature and originality, Dorfgastein also offers a variety of hiking trails, topic-specific educational trails and traditionally managed alpine pastures. The historical sights such as the “Entrisch Church” show cave and the impressive Klammstein Castle also bear witness to the rich history of the region.

Bad Hofgastein – the health resort of peace and elegance

The winter sports, hiking and biking paradise of Bad Hofgastein is around 8 kilometers from Dorfgastein. The spa town, which combines elegance and natural beauty in a unique way, exudes a relaxed atmosphere.

Bad Hofgastein offers a variety of experiences for guests who are looking for a sporty holiday combined with relaxation and enjoyment. The most important highlights of the place are undoubtedly the Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel ski and hiking area, as well as the Alpentherme Gastein. The thermal baths offer a relaxing addition to the diverse, sporting offerings.

Right next to the thermal baths is the spacious spa park, which provides an additional oasis of peace and relaxation. The wonderful view of the surrounding mountain landscape and the magical and historic Weitmoserschlössl are enchanting. Ideal for walks and sunbathing in summer, the spa gardens are transformed into a picturesque cross-country ski trail in winter, which is even illuminated in the evenings.

Bad Gastein – the health resort with a historic, alpine flair

Bad Gastein, known from films and television, with its impressive waterfall in the middle of the town is a real hotspot full of natural beauty.

The 140 meter long suspension bridge on the Stubnerkogel promises breathtaking views. The Stubnerkogelbahn and Graukogelbahn make the region equally attractive for skiers, hikers and bikers. The Felsentherme, the thermal bath at 1,100 m above sea level, invites you to relax, while adventurers can experience the “Flying Waters” (= flying fox over the Gastein waterfall).

Cultural treasures such as the Montanmuseum in Altböckstein, the unique Gastein healing tunnel and the numerous historical buildings, most of which were built into the hillside, give Bad Gastein a very special charm.

Sportgastein – high alpine nature experience in the heart of the Hohe Tauern

At the end of the Gastein valley is Sportgastein, the highest and therefore most snow-sure ski area in the “Ski Amadé” ski network. With its 24 kilometers of slopes, the ski area is aimed primarily at experienced skiers and snowboarders. Freeriders, deep snow lovers, ski tourers and adrenaline junkies in particular will find the perfect snow conditions here for adventurous off-piste fun and top-class powder fun.

Adjacent to the Sportgastein ski area, the Nassfeld begins at around 1600 m in the Hohe Tauern National Park. This is a truly breathtaking mountain experience, embedded in the indescribable and deeply impressive beauty of nature. This diverse hiking, cycling and cross-country skiing area is not only ideal for sports enthusiasts but also for families with small children, walkers and recreational bikers.
